I am sure you people have faced the situation when you leave home for a simple appointment and on your way back, because the sun is shinning, because faces are smiling, because it’s Saturday, you start to shop. I am part of these damned weak consumers who are feeling like drug addicts when they are energized by the atmosphere of a particular place. All the criteria were matching today and I found a nice new decoration shop named Artiz in my hometown which is a big exception for Asnieres. I bought a trail which particularity is that the pieces of wood are coming from old furniture in India and reassembled here in their workshop. I liked the atmosphere and their taste: they managed to refurbish an old shop and the floors were mixed and also restored.
Je suis sûre que vous comprenez cette situation où en sortant pour un rendez-vous anodin, vous rencontrez sur votre chemin de retour multiples occasions de dépenser parce que le soleil brille, parce que les visages sourient, et parce que c’est samedi. Je fais partie de cette catégorie de consommateurs faibles qui se sentent pousser des ailes quand tous les critères d’achat compulsifs sont réunis. Ainsi sur mon chemin je me suis arrêtée chez Artiz, une toute nouvelle boutique de déco qui a ouvert la semaine dernière à Asnières. J’y ai trouvé un joli plateau constitué de bois en provenance d’Inde et assemblé dans leur atelier. Ambiance indus mais pas que dans cette boutique retapée où ils ont pu découvrir de jolis carreaux de ciment sous le parquet et de la tomette pendant les travaux.

After such a great experience, I wanted to go to the grocery shop and buy very minor things but when entering the store, I stopped by the Antik Batik corner which I remember had me buying Sarah Lavoine stuff recently…not again. Well, I spent a great amount of time touching everything and then trying to make reasonable (hard) choices. I found beautiful dishes, cushion, and a scarf. Prices were very low and I would have found the same at Ikea but less colorful and more standardized. I am proud to have these new dishes now which make my life not only white. However I had to carry all these back home and I really felt like a victim of my own.
Une fois galvanisée par cette rencontre, je suis passée chez Monoprix pour faire mes achats mais en entrant, je découvre la collection capsule Antik Batik pour Monoprix, cette même capsule qui avait eu raison de moi lors de la dernière vente Sarah Lavoine. Il fallu faire des choix rationnels bien que cornéliens c’est pourquoi j’ai opté pour de la vaisselle, un coussin et un foulard. Prix très raisonnables qui finalement n’auraient pas été moindres chez Ikea, la couleur et l’originalité en plus. C’est avec fierté que je peux mixer ces éléments qui cassent un peu le blanc taille unique de mon intérieur. J’avoue m’être sentie misérable sur le chemin du retour lorsqu’il a fallu emporter toute ma maison sur le dos.

I realize Spring makes me feel that I need to care about my home. It is that time of the year when I like to garden and bring back flowers in my everyday life. I spent a great amount of time choosing plants last weekend with a friend who helped me carrying a forrest to my flat. I think the result is not too bad with a green lemon tree on the balcony which I hope will bring sweet perfume in the leaving room. Seeing green at the window even if I am not at home during the day, has its little fresh positive effect. There is much weight to lift to make a perfect home.
Intéressant comme le Printemps apporte un parfum de nouveauté qui revigore mon intérieur. C’est une période de l’année où j’apprécie particulièrement réajuster mon jardin et déposer quelques touches fleuries dans ma vie, surtout en cette période difficile. J’ai passé une bonne partie du week end dernier à choisir de nouvelles plantes, aidée d’un ami qui a eu la gentillesse de m’aider à porter ma petite forêt. Le décor est plutôt réussi avec en toile de fond un joli citronnier vert qui je l’espère déposera son parfum fleuri dans le salon. Voir du vert tous les matins avant de partir, quel bonheur! There’s much weight to lift to make a perfect home.
